Terms of service
qrate is free software under AGPL-3.0. These terms cover this website and the optional services the application can connect to.
The software
qrate is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. That license, not this page, governs your right to run, study, modify and share the software. If the two ever disagree, the license wins. Running qrate to catalogue a collection creates no obligation to anyone, at any scale.
No warranty
qrate is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, no contributor is liable for any damages arising from its use, including loss of data. This is the plain-language version of sections 15 and 16 of the AGPL, which are the operative text.
Beta software
Current builds are beta. They can still contain defects that damage or lose a project file.Keep backups of anything you care about, and treat qrate as one tool in your workflow rather than the only copy of your collection.
Your data is yours
A project is a file on your own disk. We have no access to it, claim no ownership or license over your catalogue or your linked files, and operate no service that stores them. You are responsible for having the right to catalogue the material you put into it, and for meeting any rules your own institution places on that material.
Connected services
qrate can connect to services you choose: Google Drive and Sheets for export, and whatever a plugin you install points at. Those connections are between you and that provider, under their terms. For Google, those are the Google Terms of Service. You are responsible for having permission to use the account you connect. We do not sit in the middle of those connections and cannot restore data lost inside them. See the privacy policy for exactly what is sent and when.
Acceptable use
Do not use qrate or its connected integrations to break the law, to infringe someone else's rights, or in a way that violates a connected provider's terms. Do not represent a modified build as an official one. The AGPL requires a modified version to carry prominent notice of the change.
This website
The site is provided as is, and may be offline or out of date at any time. The build reads the release information from GitHub, so it can lag the repository. GitHub serves the downloads themselves, under their terms. The builds are unsigned, so your operating system may warn you on first launch. If that matters to you, check a download against the published checksums.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of this page changes with them, and earlier versions stay in the site's git history. Continuing to use qrate after a change means you accept the current terms.
